Local BMW race prep and tuning experts, Team SavSpeed Racing, have declared they are ready to debut their new F30 racer at the last round of the MSA Super Series at Zwartkops on 1 November. The car will be competing in the popular BMW Car Club Gauteng Club Racing Series, a club championship that Team SavSpeed Racing has been part of since inception.
Owner and driver SavGualtieri says “We are very excited to enter our first race and to be able to do it with our BMW friends and at the grand finale of the nationals is very auspicious for us. I have to stress though that this is still effectively part of the testing and development phase, however we need to test it in a race environment to make sure it does what it says on the tin”.
The car he will be racing is based on the current F30 3 Series fitted with a Team SavSpeed Racing fettled turbocharged 3.0 litre BMW straight six that produces over 800hp. Keeping it glued to the track are a plethora of racing specific components as well as a bespoke aerodynamics package developed by Tony Colaro.
‘The Gladiator’ as the car is now known, was built and developed by SavSpeed at their Edenvale based workshop which has become synonymous with high quality modifications to BMWs for use on the street and the track. The team has several titles to their name, including the SA 1km record as well as the 2013 BMW CCG Club Racing Series overall championship. The team is hoping that their new car will add many more titles and trophies to the collection.
