Pre Race Report: Liqui Moly Legends Championship – Round 7 – Phakisa Freeway

The seventh round of the 2015 Liqui Moly Legends Racing Championship will head to the Phakisa Freeway on Saturday 15 August for the first time this season. Another three heats of racing action will set the tone for an exciting race weekend.

Defending champion Devin Robertson (Pro) has extended his lead at the top of the leader board and will no doubt be looking for maximum points once again. Seef Fourie (Pro) moves into second position for the

first time this season after a string of good results over the past few events and will certainly be aiming at limiting Robertson’s points haul. Llewellyn Myburgh (Pro) drops back to third position but isn’t too far behind the current leaders either. He will definitely be focused at trying to regain second place.

Willie Erasmus (Pro) has closed in on the leading trio and will be looking to make up for a few missed opportunities from earlier on in the season. Keagan Wessels (Semi-pro) holds onto fifth position but will have to worry about experienced veteran Franco di Matteo (Master) who is rapidly closing in on him.

Shaun Nel (Pro) drops back to seventh but is well within reach of the two men ahead of him. Divan Myburgh (Pro) scored valuable points at the previous event and will be hoping to break into the top six after the Phakisa event. Justin Robertson (Master) has been as consistent as always and continues to hold onto the ninth spot. He will however really have to worry about young Lonika Maartens (YL) who breaks into the top ten after some brilliant results at the previous Zwartkops event.

With more than a dozen other drivers in the field who have all scored points over the past few events, the racing is expected to be closer than ever!
